Michael Jackson’s funeral plans revealed
Singer’s body expected to go on public display
Wednesday, 1 July 2009
Michael Jackson's body will reportedly lie in state for two days at his Neverland ranch.
The singer will apparently be placed in a glass coffin so fans can pay their respects before a private family funeral.
‘It's going to be a huge event,’ says family lawyer Brian Oxman. ‘We are expecting 100,000... a million... every time we say a figure someone says, more, more.’
It's though Michael will be taken to Neverland tomorrow in a white stagecoach from the funeral parlour in Santa Monica before being laid to rest.
‘He will be buried not cremated,’ adds Brian. ‘His mum Katherine is a Jehovah's Witness and despite claims Michael had converted to Islam he was one too.’
After the service, Neverland could be transformed into a memorial space.
‘There had been talk in the family that the ranch could be turned into a permanent shrine to Michael,’ former manager Dr Tohme Tohme tells the Daily Mirror. ‘There are ongoing discussions.’
Meanwhile, a tribute event was held for Michael at the Apollo Theater – where the Jackson 5 first made their name - in Harlem yesterday.
